Nail Fungus: a natural approach

10 - 14% of the population experiences problems with onychmycosis, commonly known as toenail fungus. If you have encountered this problem, you may feel embarrassed to show your bare feet. The fun may be gone from wearing open-toe sandals and being outdoors barefoot. Being in your flip-flops with brown or cracked toenails may be a humbling experience that you've been meaning to address. Beyond that, the signs of a developing infection can be pain in your toenails or feet.

At Seattle Natural Health we have treated hundreds of people with nail fungus without using toxic pharmaceuticals. We use a unique threefold natural approach to get the best results and it is different than most conventional treatments and the results tend to last longer. First, we use an Erchonia cold laser. This manufacturer has received FDA clearance to claim that the laser reduces toenail fungus. Results were demonstrated in a study where subjects did 6 laser treatments and the toenail fungus decreased significantly. While we do not have this particular model, we use the same frequencies of the laser that were used in the study and get similar results. Second, we use a therapeutic tincture that Dr. Ramaley has formulated using iodine and DMSO that penetrates deep down into the nail, killing the fungus. Third, it is an absolute necessity to treat the systemic yeast or fungus in the body, as this is often the source of the toenail fungus in the first place. If not treated, toenail fungus will come back or take much longer to heal. We generally recommend using the cold laser over your nails for about 10 minutes once a week for four weeks then once a week every other week for two more sessions.

To be treated at our clinic, you will meet with Dr. Ramaley on your first visit to determine whether the treatment is right for you. In subsequent visits, you will come in for laser treatment only and follow the protocol Dr. Ramaley has set up for you. Finally, on your last laser visit, Dr. Ramaley will meet with you and assess the results of the overall treatment.

The cost for a new patient is $495 and for an established patient is $395 and includes the initial assessment, laser treatment and anti-fungal supplements. Insurance may cover part of the cost of the initial assessment, but will not cover the laser and herbal treatments. Results may vary based on the severity of the toenail fungus and the level of infection. Generally after 8 weeks your toenails should be greatly improved and by ~20 weeks, new nails should replace the old nails and be free of fungus. Throughout the process our staff will be available to answer any questions you may have. Start now to get your toenails spiffed up for summer.
